An oil company has been served with an improvement notice after an offshore worker suffered a serious injury on a North Sea platform.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said the incident took place on May 6 on Chevron’s Alba Northern installation.
Lifting operations were ongoing when a member of the deck crew.
The accident happened during the removal of a compactor from a cargo carrying unit (CCU).
A spokeswoman for Chevron said: “Chevron North Sea Limited works closely with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) across all aspects of our operations.
“The HSE has highlighted a process improvement opportunity for Chevron and our applicable suppliers.
“We will work with the HSE, in a constructive and timely manner, to implement their recommendation.
“We have created and defined agreed work scopes which address the areas covered within the recent notice and will continue to communicate our progress to the HSE until the matter has been resolved.”
Chevron has been accused of failing to properly plan and carry out lifting operations in a safe manner.
