Cairn-led group drilling north of SNE offshore Senegal

The drillship Stena DrillMAX has mobilized to spud the Sirius prospect offshore Senegal, with a view to proving further reserves for the nearby SNE oil field development.
RISC Operations assesses potential resources at 294 MMbbl of oil, with a 60% chance of geological success.
According to partner FAR, SNE North-1, 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the SNE-1 discovery well, will be the most northerly location yet tested by the Cairn Energy-led partnership, in 900 m (2,953 ft) water depth and with a projected TD of 2,800 m (9,186 ft).
FAR expects the results of this and earlier wells in the current drilling campaign to lead to a revision of the contingent resource estimate for the SNE field and to impact design of the development plan.
Currently the 1C resource is 348 MMbbl, with the threshold for an economic development set at 200 MMbbl.
